Christian Living Covenant ABCM Residents 2007/2008

Offering Christian students clean, safe, affordable, and Christ-centered housing is a priority for ABCM’s ministry to college students. In order to make the cooperative student house the best it can be, ABCM asks each resident to covenant along with ABCM and other residents to live as Christian examples during their residency. Resident activity and behavior represents ABCM and we strive to represent Christ in all that we do.

Please read the following guidelines to Christian living at ABCM’s Student House, sign and date:

I understand the Christian Student House is not just a place of residence for Christian students, but a ministry to the SIU and Carbondale community. I, _________________, promise to be the best Christian witness I can be while I am residing within ABCM’s Christian Student House. I agree to the following terms during my residency:

• I will respect the property and persons of ABCM and all residents
• I will follow all rules established by the campus pastor and residents
• I will seek to resolve conflicts with residents, ABCM staff, and the neighboring community in a mature, Christ-like manner
• I will dress modestly when leaving my room and the bathroom
• I will attend a church worship service on a weekly basis
• I will be involved in at least one ABCM student ministry that nurtures my faith
• I will not impose my personal opinions, beliefs, and commitments upon others
• I will not engage in premarital sexual activity, pornography, or other promiscuous activity
• I will not consume alcoholic beverages if I am under the age of 21
• I will not smoke or chew tobacco in the house, nor will I bring alcohol into the house
• I will not use illegal drugs or abuse alcohol/drugs
• I will not use offensive language or tell distasteful jokes
